The artisanal culture in Florence has always involved artisans who - besides from dedicating themselves to other activities - have been working silver. Giancarlo Galletti starts his education as a carver of Florentine ornate at the age of twelve following the tradition which has been passed on for centuries in the typical artisanal workshops. He avails on the teaching of the silver masters and treasures the knowledge he acquires from them. In 1959 Galletti opens his own activity in the heart of the San Frediano area – known since time for the Florentine artisanal activities of antique tradition. He expands his workshop with love, passion and hard work by using his expertise to create prestigious articles, which tell the tale of an antique tradition, but also contain the innovation and creativity only Giancarlo has been able to obtain. Giancarlo is able to pass his patrimony onto his sons Simone and Gabriele – together they specialize in the production of picture frames, entirely produced in the workshop starting from the project development to the confectioning. The “SG” brand is launched in 1997 when the workshop is definitively passed on to his sons who expand the business further by enriching their production with new articles – plus adding an interesting section dedicated to numismatics. What once started out as a small workshop today has become a high level commercial reality but foremost artisanal and of design, without ever losing the spirit of the workshop which treats a precious material like silver. The showroom is one of the latest assets where ‘SG’s contemporary story is told: a reality with the intent to offer the best possible article to the clientele.
